Edgartown, Hydrangeas, and Kathe Fraga Art

Although Kathe Fraga is based in Bainbridge Island in Washington State, she beautifully captures the romantic and nostalgic feelings conjured while walking down the streets of Edgartown.

Take, for example, the iconic hydrangea. You can find these magical flowers all around the island, from Winter Street to the Edgartown Lighthouse.

Fraga will use hydrangeas amongst other florals in her work. Fraga says, “My nature narrative paintings are inspired by the romance of vintage Chinoiserie, layered with pattern, botanicals, color and hidden motifs.”
